What moringa is
Moringa oleifera — มะรุม in Thai — is a drought-tolerant tree grown widely across tropical Asia. Leaves, pods and seeds are all eaten or used locally, and all three have separate commercial paths: leaf as a nutrient-dense green powder, seed as cold-pressed ben oil, and the glucosinolate fraction as a functional actives target.
Three products, not one
Most of the market treats moringa as a single green powder. That is where margins are thinnest. The more defensible positions are the isothiocyanate fraction — moringa's distinctive chemistry, released enzymatically from glucomoringin — and ben oil, prized in cosmetics for oxidative stability and a light skin feel.

Sourcing reality

Processing considerations
- Open-air drying is the main cause of microbiological failure in leaf lots — controlled drying is essential.
- Glucosinolate-to-isothiocyanate conversion is enzyme-dependent and must be deliberately managed, not left to chance.
- Chlorophyll and grassy notes limit inclusion levels in food and beverage without refinement.
- Seed press residue is a viable upcycled protein and fibre side-stream rather than waste.
